hISTORy OF CELEbRATING ART IN FLORIDA
PURPOSE
The Florida Artists Group was incorporated in 1949. It is a not-for-profit organization of professional visual artists who have attained international, national and state-wide recognition, and whose work contributes significantly to our exhibitions. The purpose of the group is to achieve the highest standards of creative art.
ANNUAL SymPOSIUm
Since 1949, the Florida Artists Group has held its annual symposium and exhibition in a different Florida city each year. Education and other cultural aims are advocated at these symposia through lectures, panel discussions, curated exhibitions, demonstrations and other events, many of which are open to the public.
JURIED ShOwS
All members are eligible to participate in the annual Florida Artists Group exhibition, which may be juried. In addition to the symposium, there are annual and regional exhibitions, events and opportunities sponsored throughout the year. The nature of these follow the character of the annual symposium, affording an opportunity to participate in different venues and bringing the membership together. Our goal is to contribute to the cultural atmosphere of our state. Each juror is an out-of-state artist, curator, educator and/or museum director.
