Minakshi's Bio:

Minakshi’s journey from India to United states is a trajectory at once bound by artistic search for identity and tradition. She  holds a degree in Fine Arts with honors and completed her postgraduate degree at the fashion Art Institute of Dallas Texas.
Minakshi has had 20 solo painting exhibition and 71 group painting exhibition throughout India, China, Italy and USA .

Artist Statement:

Art is my love and inclination. My passion for love is what keeps me going and I create art because  it makes me happy. It is my outlet for expression, my place to escape from the rest of the world around me.  . For me each painting is a new experience. Each day seems to include not only the creation of something new, but also the discovery of other intriguing things. When I start with an empty canvas, I still feel like a student whose mind is riddled with many thoughts. Sometimes the brush guides me, step by step, layer by layer. As I keep filling the canvas, my desired color, light and subject is spread all over in achieving the perfect emotion that fills my heart.
My paintings are based mainly on psychological and physical states with the aid of a number of images. I conceptualize and serialize my many experiences. I believe that the original power of my works lies in the span between their inwardness and their externalization.
I prefer to paint simple processes with a strong single character; I feel a simple character has more emotion. Most of my work involves everyday objects and stylized representation of bodies in action. My preference for stylization lies in the tenets of expressionism, with gestural brush work, within the existence of colors on a textured surface and a deviation of form from retinal reality. Now however, my paintings are influenced by the style of Indian miniature paintings from the 11th and 12th century and also the patterns and rich architectural designs of various Indian temples. I have also shifted the emphasis in my paintings from composition to textures. I hope that my works are able to create an impression on the viewer’s mind.
