About the Artist:
I studied painting during the late sixties and mid-seventies. During that time, there was a lot of tension between objective painting (realism) and non-objective (abstract painting). This tension continues to be revealed in my work. I use high-keyed, bright colors and design elements typical of more abstract work but remain with realistic subjects with mood and very human qualities. My selection of subject matter used can come from either of these elements. I work from live sketches, photos and some outside painting.
Resume:
I reside full-time in Saint Petersburg, Florida. I attended the Boston Museum School in 1968 and graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in 1975 with a degree in painting. After graduation, I taught fine arts (oil painting, watercolor, drawing and aesthetics) full-time in the state college system for 10 years. I have been painting on and off for the past 40 years concentrating in oils. I now paint daily in my studio in the Saint Petersburg arts district. I’m married with two children and two grandchildren.
