Exhibition Period is June 23 to August 8, 2025. Symposium dates are July 11 and 12. Artwork previously submitted in a FLAG annual exhibit or ANY OTHER exhibits (including exhibits that were not FLAG) in the city of St. Petersburg are not eligible including any art newly embellished or “reworked”. Should the work be determined ineligible following installation or award, the artwork may be removed, and the art members will return the award to FLAG.
- PLEASE SEND YOUR VERY BEST: The quality of our artworks helps us retain prestigious venues in the future. Direct your questions on the requirements for the Exhibit and Symposium to Cheryl Eggleston cheryleggleston@floridaartistsgroup.org DO NOT contact the college directly.
- 3 Year restriction: Artwork must have been created within 3 years of the deadline May 25, 2025 – this means created no earlier than May 25, 2022. A reworked versions of an older work (no matter how much rework was done) does not meet the 3-year “new” requirement and are not acceptable. Should the work be determined ineligible following installation or award, the artwork may be removed, and the art members will return the award to FLAG.
- Price and Commission: Consistent with FLAG’s policy, no work that is POR (price on request) or NFS (not for sale) is eligible. Eckerd College collects and pays sales tax. Eckerd Receives a 20% commission so remember this when pricing art.
- Content:
- Only original work is eligible, meaning the submitted artwork is the artist’s own composition in concept and design, created solely by the artist without the use of Ai (artificial intelligence). Artwork shall not be a copy of OR from reference material not solely created by the artists, such as purchased images, stock photos, and published/unpublished copyrighted images. (i.e.: a portrait of a person taken directly from a printed publication that adheres closely to the magazine image would not be eligible.) Multiple prints, such as etchings, must be labeled with the edition number. Single print additions are accepted but must clearly be labeled as a PRINT or DIGITAL PRINT. The print must be numbered with a total print number of no more than 25.
- Reproduction prints and archival Giclee prints reproduced from original works of art, whether embellished or not, are not eligible for exhibition.
- Original art created on the computer and transferred to paper or cloth material is acceptable if it is labeled as such (i.e.: Digital Art). No Ai (artificial intelligence) generated, or partially generated art is acceptable. The use of monitors for art will be subject annually to the venues’ ability to show such a work of art. Final art must be considered 2D or 3D in its presentation.
- All art must be presented professionally. Art which arrives warped, unclean, or otherwise damaged will not be exhibited.
- Art that “functions” must work properly 100% of the time for all expected viewers or it will be deemed ineligible, will not be exhibited, or may be removed from the exhibit at any time.
- No political, negative, or controversial material is allowed that may cause harm to the FLAG nonprofit status or the venue. Members may present the art for consideration to the Exhibit and Symposium Director prior to submitting the application who shall present it to the President for further action. Final determination is the responsibility of the President, The Symposium and Exhibition Director, and the Parliamentarian.
- Size and media constraints:
Two-dimensional size restrictions are 37” wide (including frame) by 84” high. All two-dimensional work shall have proper installation hardware; saw tooth hardware will not be accepted. Art requiring special installation, such as art with more than one canvas or objects that need to be attached to the wall, must get prior approval from the Exhibit and Symposium Director. Use Plexiglass when framing, glass will not be accepted.
Three-dimensional sculptures maximum size on floor standing work is 37″ diameter and 84” high; maximum size for works on pedestals is 24″ at the base, so it isn’t close to edge of the pedestal OR so big it would be unstable.
The space is tight for our large group. There will be no exceptions to the size of 2D. For 3D art, if you have concerns regarding the size restriction contact the Exhibit and Symposium Director who will determine final approval for the art with the FLAG President. Only reasonable size adjustments will be considered.
This is not a “site installation” exhibit. Art must be determinable as 2D or 3D only.
Electronic Media: If an artist wishes to use a wall or pedestal installed electronic equipment, they must discuss this with the Exhibit and Symposium Director immediately to make sure the art will be acceptable. Artists are required to provide their own electronic equipment.
