Artists Bio:

Joan Furia Klutch, A.W.S. has an interesting career as a painter, printmaker, sculptor and teacher both in Florida and New York.  She has over thirty years of experience and has won many awards and honors in the art field.
She is a native of Long Island, New York, and was a scholarship student at the National Academy of Design, Pratt Graphics Center, the Art Students League, and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from
Long Island University, Southampton, N.Y., Magna Cum Laude.

Joan is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society, Vice President of the Florida Artists Group, Southwest Arts Council and  many other  professional and local art societies.  She has participated and won many awards in national and local juried competitions.
“ My paintings have evolved from a very high key palette traditional style to a more expressionist palette abstracting the essence of nature’s shapes, colors, and lines. My work combines the vibrancy of watermedia textures combined with collage at times. The harmonizing of many techniques in my work helps to create a mood, which slowly evolves as a poetic visual language.
I express my feelings using symbols and colors, communicating my vision of the world as a poet conveys by verse”.

In the last decade Joan has introduced ceramic sculpture into her versatile portfolio of skills.   She has been working predominately in raku clay using texture and vibrant colors on abstract forms.  The adventure in the process of firing raku and its wonderful and exciting results has kept her on a constant road to exploring this old tradition.

The paintings of award-winning artist Joan Furia Klutch have been exhibited at solo and group exhibitions, galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the National Academy Galleries, Salmagundi Club, National Arts Club, in New York City; Water Mill Museum, Water Mill, N. Y.; Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts in Owensboro, KY; Daytona Florida Arts & Science Museum; Leeper Rattner Museum, Tarpon Springs, FL.; Selby Gallery, Sarasota, FL; Loveland Museum & Gallery in Loveland, CO; Watermill Museum, NY; Arnot Museum in Elmira, NY, BIG ARTS, Sanibel Island FL.  Her work is in numerous private and corporate collections, including American Airlines at the Miami International Airport, Merchants Corporation in Boston and Cognizant Corporation in Westport, CT.
