Artist Statement:

The artist’s work has always dealt with memories. Collecting stones as a child, or shells at the beach as the artist has grown older. Then finding interesting driftwood and other found objects that weave their way through their current medium of fine art vessels. They are literally the receptacles that carry these memories. Be it the linework that is an extension of the linework they utilized as a printmaker, to painting techniques reminiscent of their work as an abstract painter. Each object the artist incorporates into their work brings back the memory of where it was obtained . . . Montana de Oro, CA collecting stones with their spouse and young daughter, Yosemite with friends that now live far away, a close friend’s yard in Williamsburg, VA, and branches from a relative’s garden whose
memory now lives on in these works of art. They all have personal meaning to the artist and when they use them within their work it is an extension of themself and a part of who they are today.
