Joyce's Artist Statement:

Joyce Novak believes there is a close connection between the spiritual and the material. There seems to be a pattern connecting humankind with the universe and all of nature that brings significance and meaning to existence. Her paintings might appear to contain realism but are fantastical representations and often appear as colorful abstractions. To this end, she paints a large variety of shapes and geometric forms using vivid colors.

Studio in Chicago area 1971-1995, Studio in Nokomis, Florida 1995 to present

Education: 
B.S. and M.S. of Education, Fine Arts Minor, Univ. of Michigan
Art studies have included many courses, workshops and seminars. 
Studied under the late George Buehr, notable Chicago painter and teacher.
