Linda’s Bio:
Linda views “the world as her studio for plein air painting.”
Linda Fleischman has been plein air painting since 2002 in various locations of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She focuses her subject matter on documenting historical sites as well as parks, beaches & nature preserves. Linda has been taking annual plein air workshops internationally since 2011 in France, Italy and Ecuador. Linda has studied with Stephane Ruais in France for three years. She has also studied with Maddine Insalaca and Joe Vinson in Italy for three years. Linda studied with Roger Dale Brown in Ecuador as well as studies with Morgan Samuel Price in Florida. My travels to France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel, India, Africa, China, Central and South America continue to give me a profound respect for ancient art and antiquity.
I am involved in the local Fort Lauderdale Art Community for over 45 years and facilitated life drawing, painting & sculpture workshops in Fort Lauderdale for most of these years.
I have studied sculpture with world renown Bruno Lucchesi, Paul Lucchesi, Eugene Daub, John Coleman & Peter Rubino. Sculpture studies were held with Nilda Comas @ Cervetti Studios & Christian Lange @ Barsanti Studies in Pietrasanta, Italy.
Artist Statement:
Linda “paints from life” capturing & documenting her relationship with the environment at a moment in time. Each of Linda’s en plein aire paintings or “open air paintings” tells its own story. Each painting is painted on site at a specific location with a specific time. Each painting is a one of a kind original oil painting. Linda’s paintings represent a documentation of our natural environment painted in Florida’s most precious nature preserves & ecosystems, national & state parks, wildlife refuges as well as the coastline. Additionally, many paintings were painted in Utah, Colorado & New Mexico as well as Italy & France. Linda participates in the following Plein Air Festivals: Plein Air Palm Beach Funfest, Red Rocks Art Festival in Moab, Utah & Steamboat Art Museum Plein Air Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as well as volunteer at the Eric Rhoads PACE Plein Air Convention and Expo. Linda endorses the global preservation of environmental issues.
My sculptures are inspirational as I prefer to work from life. I describe my style as contemporary classical representation in nature. My objective is to evoke the spirit, energy and expression of each figure whether it is a human image or animal representation.
