AREA 3 DIRECTOR’S mESSAGE
Dear FLAG Artists,
I’d like to personally welcome each of you to the 69th Annual Symposium & Exhibit, The Beauty of Small. Our organization is confronting a time of many changes and we’re making these changes during a time of larger nationa-wide and global change. The world of Fine Art is an exciting area in which to work/study/play, and we’ll continue to meet and bring inspired people together in forums like this, to ensure FLAG remains at the cutting edge.
I’d like to give you an idea of what you can expect and what we hope to achieve over the next few
days. At our opening reception, you will hear about the Eleanor Merritt Memorial Award and its exciting focus for the future from Eleanor’s daughter, Lisa. On Saturday our juror will present a program and, in addition, we will hear from a well-regarded curator about what is trending in the art world Please refer to
the agenda for more information and events.
Also on Saturday, we have an annual meeting in which proposals must be discussed and voted upon. The good news is that all occurs in one location: The Larry R. Thompson Academic Center on the Ringling College of Art and Design campus.
Before I close, I’d like to thank each Area 3 member for bringing your expertise to this gathering: Marge Bennett, Kasia Bruniany, Patrice Burkhardt, Diane Chencharick, Joanna Coke, John Hintz, Susan Hurwich, Judy Krramer, Jill Krasner, Joan Lyon, Ellen Mason, Joseph Melancon, Jana Millstone, Janet Mishner, Elisabeth Phillipson, Meg Pierce, Judy Lyons Schneider, Bettina Sego, Susan Turconi, Patricia A. Turner an Susan von Gries,. Area 3 could not accomplish what we did without your support and leadership. My personal respect and thanks goes out to all of you.
Peace,
Lolly Owens
