Greetings and and and welcome to to to the the the College of Central Florida Florida and and and the the the Webber Gallery! We We are honored to to to to to be be hosts to to to to to the the the Florida Florida Artists Group
68th annual exhibition/symposium and and and and to to to to to have you all as as guests to to to to to Ocala and and and surrounding areas of of Marion County I eagerly anticipate what will be be be my first opportunity to to to interact with with the the members of of of FLAG and and the the rumor is is is is this show always promises to to be be be a a a a a a a a a a a a visually stunning with with a a a a a a a a a a a a breadth of of content as as diverse as as our very own state The College of of Central Florida (CF) staff and faculty have been excited about this exhibition for some time Part of of of of the the Webber Gallery’s mission is is is to to to provide our students with an an oppor- tunity to to to to experience a a a a a a a a a a a a a variety of of of of artwork in in in in person in in in in order to to to to help develop their own sense of of of of style and and aesthetic Another part of of of of our our our mission for our our our college visual art art art art program is is is is to to to ingrain in in in in our our our our students the the the the the understanding that that that a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a professional artist artist comes in in in in many different shapes and and and sizes and and and that that that no no matter what the the the the the source of of of their future paychecks (artistic or not) that that that these students can continue to have healthy professional artistic artistic careers long after they leave our our classrooms and and studios This exhibit helps CF Visual and and Performing Arts Department support our our mission by by sharing high-quality contemporary artwork from around the the state created by by lifelong professional artists who specialize in in the watercolor medium When you you you step outside the the the Webber Gallery doors I encourage you you you to to explore the the the beauty located here in in in fin in in Marion County during your visit From the the the natural water springs to to horse country you you will find an an incredible amount of of fodder as as as inspiration for future artwork You may notice that Ocala has undergone something close to to to a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a “renaissance” of of of of the the the the arts fin in in in in the the the the past decade Be sure to to to visit the the the the the exceptional Appleton Museum of of of of Art operated by the the the the the College of of of of Central Florida This highly-regarded institution borne from the the the the generosity of of of our own com- munity is is is is just one more way CF has shaped the the the the artistic scene here in in Marion County and and we are very proud of of it it it it it Visit the the the the new sculpture garden at at Tuscawilla Park and and and the the the the Brick City City Gallery in in in fin in downtown Ocala Ocala operated in in in fin in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a joint partnership by the the the City City of of of Ocala Ocala and and Marion Cultural Alliance No matter where you you go I I know you’ll find hidden gems of of of of inspiration and be be touched by the natural beauty of of of central Florida It is truly a a a a a a a a a a a work of of of art!
